Jennifer Geigel & Emilie Geigel-Clermont

Jennifer Geigel and Emilie Geigel-Clermont live near Ottawa, Ontario. 

When Emilie was diagnosed with autism at only 22 months old, specialists said Emilie would never speak or attend a mainstream school. Not only has Emilie graduated high school with honours, but she has now finished her first year in a graphic design program. Jennifer has been a teacher for over 24 years, the last 10 years with students with ASD. She has also volunteered as a board of directors member for 14 years in the Prescott-Russell Autism Group and 2 years as its president. Jennifer also does private consulting with caregivers as well as local colleges and organizations.

The experiences of autistic people and their families are as broad as the autism spectrum itself. In this panel discussion, families will share the ups and downs of their journeys and lessons learned along the way. They will share perspectives on what worked and what didn’t while navigating their own unique path.
